Time to step back and look at the first month of BooksYALove&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So many firsts = first posting on May 1st as <a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/blogathon-2011.html\" target=\"_blank\">WordCount&#8217;s Blogathon2011<\/a> gets rolling. Followed by first book recommendation, first comments, first subscribers, first tweets &#8211; and lots of friendly feedback from fellow Blogathonners.<\/p>\n<p>Most of my recommendations were for <a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/search\/label\/fiction\" target=\"_blank\">fiction<\/a> books, with some cool <a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/search\/label\/nonfiction\" target=\"_blank\">nonfiction<\/a> thrown in, all books that young adults (and young-at-heart adults) will enjoy reading, but might not find in the big displays at booksellers or on best seller lists. <\/p>\n<p>Worth looking at again:<br \/><b>Scary books<\/b>: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/stolen-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Stolen<\/a><\/i> and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/house-of-dead-maids-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">The House of Dead Maids<\/a><\/i><br \/><b>High school drama (but funny)<\/b>: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/flawless-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Flawless<\/a><\/i> and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/ten-miles-past-normal-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ten Miles Past Normal<\/a><\/i><br \/><b>Futuristic books<\/b>: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/awaken-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Awaken<\/a><\/i> and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/across-universe-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Across the Universe<\/a><\/i><br \/><b>Graphic novels<\/b>: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/smile-nonfiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Smile<\/a><\/i> and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/i-love-him-to-pieces-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">My Boyfriend is a Monster<\/a><\/i><br \/><b>Across the sea<\/b>: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/warriors-in-crossfire-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Warriors in the Crossfire<\/a><\/i> and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/booksyalove.blogspot.com\/2011\/05\/saraswatis-way-fiction.html\" target=\"_blank\">Saraswati&#8217;s Way<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p>I have a big stack of books that I;ve read and just cannot wait to share with y&#8217;all, this summer I&#8217;m planning to post several new book recommendations every week (though perhaps not one a day), with occasional reflective musings and some guest posts that highlight &#8220;forgotten gems&#8221; of YA lit from earlier years.<\/p>\n<p>So, grab a book and take your mind somewhere else this summer &#8211; you&#8217;ll be glad you did!
